The History
This Podiatry Practice was initiated at the Country Club Rd. location in 1951 by Felton Gamble, DPM who had previously practiced in southern New Jersey, taught radiology at the Temple University School of Chiropody in Philadelphia and later co-authored Clinical Foot Roentgenology with Irving Yale (1975).
In 1951, he and his family moved to Tucson primarily for his wife’s health, which greatly
improved. He raised his 3 children in the home part of the building and maintained a podiatry practice in the attached building. Dr. Gamble retired in 1980 at which time Dr. Shapiro purchased the practice and home/office.
Dr. Shapiro enjoyed a successful career in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery from 1980 to 2016, when he retired and passed the baton to Dr. Erika Huston. The practice of quality foot and ankle care at 1888 N. Country Club Rd. will continue for many years to come.

Many Changes
April 16, 2026
Since I write in this mini blog so infrequently we have so much to announce. We have a new medical assistant, Zenaida! Having two MAs greatly improves our efficiency. We have also implemented a new medical record system that has improved clinic flow (although for established patients you will have one time of entering data, so please be patient with the process). This summer will be ten years of Dr. Huston at this location! We had the pleasure of having Jeff, the son of Dr. Gamble, visit the office and fill in some of the blanks on the history of the property. For example, the office part was never a home, it was originally a standalone building and it was later constructed to include the house and patio room.
Office Refreshing
May 7, 2024
As the desert is bright and colorful with the renewal of Spring, the office is rejuvenating also! The biggest change is we got new windows! With the heat of summer fast approaching we are already appreciating the energy efficiency. We're changing some artwork in the office for some more color and festivity. If there's one thing I love about this historic office is it will never have a sterile, monochromatic feel to it. The artwork is bright and by local Arizonan artists!
